The Case of Vacuum-Assisted Closure Dressing in Skin Graft Procedure
Lee Dong-Geun

Abstract
Even though there are so many reconstructive methods for the soft tissue defect. The skin graft is the most popular method for soft tissue reconstruction. The tie-over dressing is the most important step in the skin graft procedure. But in some cases, such as the difficult location of the soft tissue defect, it is impossible to do the tie-over dressing procedure in the skin graft operation. In the case of mid-femur amputation with crushed proximal stump, we did the operation of the split thickness skin graft. But I could not use the tie-over method for fixation of the grafted skin. So I used the vacuum-assisted closure (V.A.C) dressing instead of the tie-over procedure on the grafted skin. The grafted skin was well taken without any skin loss. In this study, I can find that the VAC dressing is a good choice for fixation of the grafted skin on a difficult site. Additionally we could save the time needed for the tie-over procedure. I recommend this VAC dressing as a novel alternative for the fixation of the grafted skin on the difficult site. (J Korean Wound Management Soc 2010;6:84-86)
